Robert Thomas Crawford, PGM 1999-2000

Robert Thomas Crawford was born September 25, 1950 in Fairfield, Alabama. His parents were Monroe W. Crawford and Hannah Ruth Crawford. He attended Jefferson County public schools and graduated from Hueytown High School in 1969. He was employed by US Steel at the Ensley Rail Mill July 1969. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in December 1969. On April 24, 1970, he married Debra Jean Humphries. This union has produced 3 lovely daughters and 2 wonderful Grand Children. After being Honorably discharged in December 1974, he attended Bessemer State Technical School where he studied Industrial Electronics. He returned to U.S. Steel in 1974 as a Motor Inspector Apprentice. He entered the Electronic Dept. of Fairfield Steel in 1976. He is currently employed at Fairfield works Seamless Pipe Mill as Process Leader of the Bloom Furnace / Water Treatment / Combustion Control.

Brother Crawford was initiated in Hueytown Lodge # 843 F. & A. M. on December 14, 1974, Passed to the degree of Fellowcraft, January 4, 1975 and raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason on January 11, 1975. He served Hueytown Lodge as Worshipful Master in 1981-82. He was elected Secretary in 1986.

Brother Crawford served the Grand Lodge as District Lecturer from 1986 to 1989. He was appointed the Member of the Committee on Work for Group 8 in 1989. He was elected Junior Grand Warden in 1996. Brother Crawford was elected and installed as the Most Worshipful Grand Master of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons, the highest office of Masonry, on November 17, 1999.

Brother Crawford has been very active in the York Rite of Masonry. He served as Grand High Priest of the Grand Chapter Royal Arch Masons of Alabama 1992-1993. He is currently serving the Grand Commandery of Knights Templar as Grand Captain General. He is a member of Alabama Priory #31 Knights of the York Grand Cross of Honor, St. Dunstan Conclave, Red Cross of Constantine, Emerst W. Johns Sovereign York Rite College, Council of Anointed High Priests, Order of the Silver Trowel, Knight Crusaders of the Cross, Jerusalem Tabernacle Holy Royal Order Knights Templar Priests. Brother Crawford has been active in the Scottish Rite of Free Masonry, Valley of Birmingham. He was invested with the Knight Commander Court of Honor on October 30, 1999. Brother Crawford is an active member of Zamora Temple, Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine, Birmingham, Alabama.
